The deployment of a crack, seasoned police chief, Ishola Olawale Olarewaju to head the Lagos state police command by the authorities through the office of the Inspector-general of Police, IGP, the Police Service Commission, PSC, was not only greeted with great enthusiasm by stakeholders in security matters, but was welcomed by his colleagues who knows his pedigree.For old crime reporters and security experts, the posting of Olarewaju to Lagos, shows the determination by IGP Kayode Egbetokun to send warning signal to criminal elements in the state.
This assignment given to the police chief with vast knowledge of Lagos, surely, would lead to drastic reductions in violent crimes. To prove his worth, he hit the ground running last week by meeting with his subordinates, operatives from sister’s agencies, journalists and stakeholders in security Matters to synergized. This move has yielded fruits with last week arrests of no fewer than 38 suspected criminals. Close associates confirmed his get-up-and-go policing methodology.
Similarly, with an unsurpassed record of serving as DPO in no fewer than seven police stations in the state, he would not only improve upon where his predecessor, AIG Adegoke Fayoade stopped, but ensure that he gives his very best to the people of the state.Also,the sustainability of this commitments by Olarewaju and collaborative efforts by all in the state, the police under him is good to go in checking the activities of criminals and hoodlums .
