Police Chief Rejected In Osun State, Assume Office As FCT Police Boss

The Commissioner of police appointed by the Police Service Commission, PSC , to head the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, today, has assumed office at the command headquarters in Abuja.
The police chief, Peter Ukachi Opara, is a lawyer and seasoned administrator, who with nine others were posted to various states commands in January this year by PSC.


Opara who was number one on the list was deployed to Osun state by the Commission. However, he could not assume office as some politicians opposed to Governor Ademola Jackson Adeleke, were reported to have petitioned the presidency over an “ibo man as CP in Osun”. It was learnt that the petitioners alleged that bringing an ibo man to Osun state where the governor’s mum and wife, Ngozi, are ibos, such CP would compromise his position.


The authority at the force headquarters , for peace to reign, had to moved Opara to force headquarters as Deputy Force Secretary.
A versatile police chief from Imo state, Opara has served as Personal Assistant to a former Lagos state commissioner of police . Also in the same capacity to a Deputy Inspector-general of Police,DIG, Inspector-general of Police, IGP, and a Chairman of PSC.
His appointment for FCT, assumption of office has confirmed the Biblical saying that, “The stone rejected by the builder, same stone has become the head of the cornerstone”.
