In efforts to strengthening community policing, deepening public trust, and fostering strategic partnerships for effective crime prevention across Ogun State, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, paid a strategic familiarization visit to the Ogbere Area Command. The visit featured high-level engagements with traditional rulers, local government authorities, sister security agencies, community stakeholders, and officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, all aimed at reinforcing collaborative policing and enhancing security across the area.
The police spokesman for the state, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said that accompanied by members of the Command Management Team, the Commissioner commenced the visit with a royal courtesy call on the palace of the Oloko of Ijebu-Imusin, His Royal Majesty Oba S.A. Onafowokan, where he was warmly received alongside other royal fathers, including His Royal Majesty Oba M.A. Adenaike, the Oyebola of Igbaga; His Royal Majesty Oba (Engr.) I.O. Ajede, the Ogirimadagbo of Ilodo; and His Royal Majesty Oba B.J. Adetola, the Kunnusi of Idokunnusi, as well as members of the Council of Chiefs.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Oloko of Ijebu-Imusin described the visit as historic, noting that CP Ojajuni is the first serving Commissioner of Police to officially visit the town. He expressed appreciation for the prevailing peace being enjoyed in the community and commended the Commissioner for the remarkable operational successes recorded under his leadership, particularly in foiling kidnapping attempts, recovering illegal firearms, and retrieving stolen vehicles. The monarch pledged the unwavering support of the traditional institution to the Command.
Responding, CP Ojajuni appreciated the royal fathers for the warm reception and their steadfast support for the Nigeria Police Force. He briefed them on the strategic implementation and achievements of Operation Kosaye, emphasizing that the operation has further strengthened the Command’s capacity to tackle violent crime and secure border communities. Reiterating his commitment to the protection of lives and property, he stressed the importance of timely intelligence gathering and information sharing in preventing crime and called for sustained collaboration with the traditional institution.
The Commissioner thereafter visited the palace of the Moyegeso of Itele, His Royal Majesty Oba (Engr.) Mufutau Kasali, MFR, where he was received by the monarch and members of the Moyegeso-in-Council. The royal father expressed delight at the visit, describing CP Ojajuni as the first sitting Commissioner of Police to officially visit Itele and commending his inclusive leadership and commitment to every community across Ogun State.
In his remarks, the Commissioner thanked the monarch for his unwavering support to officers serving within the Area Command and highlighted the operational dividends of Operation Kosaye. He assured the community of the Command’s resolve to sustain proactive, intelligence-led and professional policing while appealing for continued partnership through credible intelligence capable of preventing criminal activities.
The Commissioner proceeded to the Ogbere Area Command Headquarters, where he was formally received by the Area Commander, ACP Sunday Oluwadare, alongside officers and personnel of the Command. Also in attendance were the Executive Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Dr. Oluwakayode Kehinde; the Secretary to Ogun Waterside Local Government, Alhaji Okuwoga Adeyinka, representing the Executive Chairman; prominent traditional rulers including His Royal Majesty Oba Obikoya Abidekun, the Oloni of Oni, and His Royal Majesty Oba Adetuwo Ogunjumelo, the Olupe of Ibuland; representatives of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), led by the Ogbere Chairman, Comrade Bola Ogunsanya, and the Patron of PCRC Ijebuland, Mr. Tanimola Lawal; as well as representatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Ogbere Forest Guards, religious leaders, and leaders of the Igbo and Hausa/Fulani communities.
Addressing the stakeholders, CP Ojajuni expressed profound appreciation for the overwhelming reception and specially commended the local government leadership for its consistent collaboration with the Police in securing communities across Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Local Government Areas. He applauded the high level of inter-agency cooperation within the Ogbere axis, noting that despite the vast geographical stretch of the corridor, security challenges have continued to be effectively addressed through synergy among security agencies and community stakeholders.
Highlighting the achievements of Operation Kosaye, the Commissioner reaffirmed that Ogun State remains hostile to criminal elements and that the Command will continue to deny criminals any operating space within the State and along its borders. He further advocated stronger police-community synergy, stressing that security is a shared responsibility requiring the active participation of every resident. He introduced stakeholders to the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Social Vices (POCACOV) as the Nigeria Police Force’s flagship non-kinetic crime prevention initiative and encouraged residents to maximize the Gateway Shield platform by promptly reporting suspicious activities, assuring them that every credible information received would be treated professionally and acted upon without delay.
As part of the visit, the Commissioner also paid a courtesy visit to the Ijebu East Local Government Secretariat, where he and members of the Command Management Team were warmly received by the Executive Chairman, Dr. Oluwakayode Kehinde, and members of the Local Government Management Team. CP Ojajuni commended the Chairman for his unwavering support to the Police, particularly his personal participation in a recent joint security surveillance operation along the Ogun–Ondo State boundary corridor at Ogbere. He described the Chairman’s commitment as a demonstration of purposeful leadership and urged the Local Government to sustain its support for collaborative security initiatives, especially in strengthening border security and intelligence-driven policing.
In his response, Dr. Oluwakayode Kehinde appreciated the Commissioner for his proactive leadership and strategic approach to policing, reaffirming the commitment of the Ijebu East Local Government to supporting the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in maintaining peace, security, and sustainable development across the area.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Ogun State Police Command’s unwavering commitment to building safer communities through strategic partnerships, professionalism, intelligence-led policing, and sustained stakeholder engagement.
Meanwhile, the General Manager of Fresh FM Radio Station based in Lagos, Mr Taiwo Akinsola Omobabawoli Ni Ilasamaja, has commended Ojajuni, his Ijebu-Ode DPO and the Patrol Team that came to rescue 18 Corps members while they were distressed on a dangerous black spot in Ijebu-Ode on the night of 30th June, 2026.
