A 43-year-old man has been arrested in Sepeteri, Oyo State, for allegedly killing his elder brother with a heavy rock after accusing him of shooting him in a dream.
The suspect, Lateef Suleiman of Alegunlode Compound, reportedly woke up believing that his 52-year-old brother, Mustapha Amidu, had attacked him in his sleep.
In a statement issued Tuesday by the Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the police said Suleiman acted on the claim by allegedly picking up a heavy rock and striking his brother on the head before fleeing the scene.
According to the statement, one Badmus Yunisa of the same compound reported the incident, stating that the suspect attacked the deceased over the dream accusation.
The police said Suleiman approached his brother while he was seated, hit him with the rock, and immediately ran away.
Mustapha Amidu was rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri, where he was later confirmed dead by the attending doctor.
