Victoria Ariyo, a female corps member serving in Abeokuta South LGA of Ogun state, has died after allegedly terminating a pregnancy.
She was said to have died on Tuesday from complications that arose after undergoing a suspected abortion procedure.
Her remains have reportedly been interred at Kobape cemetery along the Kobape-Sagamu road in the state’s capital.
According to reports, an NYSC local government inspector (LGI) has been arrested by the police in connection with the corps member’s death.
When contacted, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the police spokesperson in the state, confirmed Ariyo’s death and said investigations were ongoing.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ogun state NYSC spokesperson, said he was unaware of the incident.
The police and the Ogun NYSC are yet to issue official statements on the corps member’s death and the reported arrest.
Reports indicate that Ariyo’s death comes barely a month after the mysterious passing of another corps member, Adeleye Mary, who was also serving in the same local council.
