Cubana Chief Priest suffers big defeat in APC Reps’ primary

Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has failed to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The celebrity businessman and socialite lost the party’s primary election to the incumbent lawmaker, Canice Moore Nwachukwu, who is currently serving a second term in the House of Representatives.

Cubana Chief Priest had officially entered the race in April after obtaining the APC expression of interest and nomination forms to contest for the seat.

Before venturing fully into politics, he served as an aide to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma.

At a meeting with party aspirants on Thursday, Uzodinma reportedly refrained from endorsing any candidate, instead encouraging all contestants to test their popularity among party members.

The socialite has consistently shown support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the ruling APC.

He was also appointed Imo director of the City Boy Movement (CBM), a youth support group backing Tinubu’s second-term bid.
