The Ogun State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure 2027 General Election as the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, paid a strategic visit to the Ogun State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), where he met with the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Feyijimi Saseyi, Esq.

The Command’s spokesman, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said during the visit on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, Ojajuni toured the INEC premises and engaged the Commission on security arrangements for its personnel, facilities and electoral materials ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Describing INEC as a critical institution in Nigeriaโ€™s democratic process, the Commissioner emphasised the need for sustained cooperation between the Police and the Commission. He declared, โ€œFrom now until the end of the 2027 General Elections, the INEC office will become our second office.โ€

Ojajuni explained that the Commandโ€™s preparations would focus on intelligence-led policing, early threat assessment, effective information sharing and coordinated deployment to protect electoral officials, voters, election materials and facilities. He stressed that all security operations would be conducted professionally, impartially and in accordance with the law.

The Commissioner also recalled the security workshop earlier organised by the Command in Abeokuta for security agencies and relevant stakeholders as part of preparations for the 2027 elections. He noted that INEC participated in the engagement, which provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and improve coordination on election-related security matters.

In her response, Mrs Feyijimi Saseyi, Esq., appreciated the Commissionerโ€™s visit and reaffirmed INECโ€™s commitment to working with the Police and other relevant stakeholders towards credible elections.

She stated, โ€œOn our part, we will also be open, transparent and committed to this assignment so that, at the end of it all, we will achieve free, fair, transparent and credible elections.โ€

CP Ojajuni urged political parties, candidates, supporters and other stakeholders to respect the law, shun violence and intimidation, and refrain from any conduct capable of undermining the electoral process. He further encouraged residents to report credible security concerns promptly through the nearest police station or established Command communication channels, while avoiding the spread of unverified information.

The Ogun State Police Command assures residents that it will continue to collaborate with INEC, other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to promote public safety and support a peaceful electoral process. The Command calls on all citizens to play their part by rejecting electoral violence, respecting democratic institutions and cooperating with lawful security efforts.
