The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), in charge of Zone 2 Command, Moshood Olorundare Jimoh has received an award, “Outstanding Excellence in Security Leadership Award 2026” from the Integrity Youth Alliance.
While receiving the award in his office at Zone 2, Police headquarters, Onikan, Lagos the AIG assured residents of Lagos and Ogun states of improved security, calling for sustained public trust and cooperation with the police.
Earlier, the group’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Kehinde Adewole said that the award recognized Jimoh’s leadership, professionalism and commitment to accountable policing.
He cited the recovery of over 115 stolen vehicles, prosecution of suspected cult members, zero-incident security during major celebrations, and the deployment of 250 personnel with 50 tactical vehicles to strategic locations in Lagos.
Jimoh, former Lagos Commissioner of Police, said the award reflects the hard work of officers in the zone and will motivate them to do more.
He noted that his experience in Lagos gives him insight into the security needs of both states, which are critical to Nigeria’s economy, adding that the command has introduced initiatives to curb crime, protect infrastructure and strengthen security along key corridors through intelligence-led policing.
The AIG commended residents for providing information that has helped prevent and detect crime, urging them to report police misconduct through proper channels. “Our doors are widely open for complaints to be made and properly addressed”.
Rights activist Segun Awosanya, aka Segalink, also described Jimoh as deserving of the honour, crediting relative peace in Lagos to teamwork and community engagement.
Jimoh revealed that IGP Olatunji Disu has introduced initiatives to strengthen public partnership and training, and pledged that Zone 2 will sustain community policing and stakeholder engagement across Lagos and Ogun.
