The Ogun State Police Command
disclosed that it’s attention has been drawn to media reports detailing concerns raised by the traditional leadership and residents of Ajogbo Akia community regarding alleged farmland destruction, criminal intimidation, and activities of suspected land grabbers.
According to the Command deputy spokesman, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has ordered an immediate, comprehensive investigation into the allegations to ascertain the true facts, identify perpetrators, and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
The Command explicitly clarifies that disputes surrounding title to land, boundary adjustments, and ownership claims are strictly civil matters, for which aggrieved parties must seek appropriate judicial reliefs through competent courts of law. However, where a party possesses legitimate title and statutory documentation of land ownership but suffers any criminal act such as malicious damage to crops, destruction of property, criminal trespass, or threats to life; the law gives such individuals the right to report these acts to the Police for thorough investigation and possible prosecution.
To maintain public order and guarantee immediate safety, the Command has directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers covering the jurisdiction to deploy high-visibility operational patrols and intelligence assets to Ajogbo Akia and surrounding agricultural corridors. These patrol teams have been mandated to dominate the area day and night, ensuring that farmers and residents can safely access their farmlands and conduct their lawful business without fear of violence, harassment, or unlawful interference.
The Ogun State Police Command reiterates its zero-tolerance stance against illegal land grabbing, self-help, and threats to life, while commending the traditional ruler, Baale Dr. Oluwasegun Adebiyi, and community leaders for seeking law enforcement intervention rather than resorting to violence.
Members of the public are urged to remain calm, stay law-abiding, and cooperate fully with police investigators by providing actionable intelligence to ensure lasting peace across the state.
