The Ogun State Police Command, yesterday hosted the pioneer Director of Force Medical Services, AIG Nkechi Eze, BDS, MPH, fspsp, alongside her team on an official working visit to the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta. Received by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, the historic visit provided a strategic platform to align local medical operations with the newly elevated healthcare architecture of the Nigeria Police Force.
Speaking during the visit, AIG Nkechi Eze stated that the primary purpose of her tour was to inspect police health facilities and infrastructure across the Ogun State Command to identify areas requiring urgent upgrade and support. Beyond facility assessment, she reaffirmed the Directorateβs commitment to improving healthcare delivery and highlighted key welfare initiatives, notably the “Know Your Numbers” campaign. She urged personnel to take proactive charge of their health through routine blood pressure checks, glucose screenings, and other vital tests to prevent manageable illnesses, while stressing the need for officers to register for compulsory health insurance schemes given the demanding nature of police operations.
The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, said that in his response, CP Bode Ojajuni expressed deep appreciation to the visiting AIG and commended the Force Medical Services for their vital contributions to the Command’s operational successes. Making specific reference to Operation Kα»Μsaye, the CP highlighted the instrumental role medical personnel play during field engagements across the state. He also emphasized that opening police medical facilities to the public serves as a key corporate social responsibility initiative that strengthens community relations, which ultimately aids policing efforts across the state.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the Commandβs medical facilities and a group photograph.
