Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has joined numerous individuals and organisations across and beyond the country in paying homage to the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, on the occasion of his 86th birthday.
A statement signed by the Union quoted the IEDPU’s National President, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, as saying that “the Emir’s 86th birthday, which falls due on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, deserves to be celebrated.
The Union congratulated the Emir, who is also the Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, and Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University, Ilorin, for marking another birthday on the throne of his forebears in sound health, adding that his reign has been very peaceful, progressive and prosperous
Alhaji Abdulmalik, who is a retired Assistant Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, described the Emir as a respected royal father, outstanding elder statesman and an illustrious jurist who is, no doubt, a real blessing not only to Ilorin Emirate but also to the entire humanity.
The IEDPU’s President paid glowing tributes to the Emir for his numerous achievements in peace building and other areas of national development, saying that Alhaji Sulu-Gambari is a leader who deserves to be honoured and celebrated by all and sundry.
Alhaji Abdulmalik, who recalled several roles of the Emir in community development before and since his coronation as the 11th paramount traditional ruler of Ilorin Emirate, acknowledged the Monarch’s continuous fatherly love and support which IEDPU has been enjoying from him since his election as the Union’s President about three years ago.
While the retired Immigration Chief wished Alhaji Sulu-Gambari many more years of peaceful and prosperous reign, Alhaji Abdulmalik assured the Emir of the loyalty, patriotism and prayers of members of the Union and the generality of the good people and residents of Ilorin Emirate.
