PSC Appoints CP Ogbegbagha As Taraba Police Boss,Tasks Him on Neutrality, Professionalism

The Police Service Commission, PSC, has approved the posting of Commissioner of Police Edwin Ogbegbagha as the new Commissioner of Police for the Taraba State Command.

The approval, according to the Commission’s spokesman, Torty Njoku Kalu, follows a comprehensive interview session held at the PSC Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, presided over by the Commission’s Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (Rtd), mni. During the session, the Commission charged the new CP to demonstrate exceptional professionalism and neutrality in his duties, emphasizing the critical need for impartiality and public safety as the nation gears up for the 2027 General Elections.

A distinguished law enforcement officer with over 25 years of service, CP Ogbegbagha brings a robust portfolio to his new role. Prior to this posting, he served as the Force Provost Marshal at Force Headquarters, Abuja – a position he has held since March 2026. An alumnus of the University of Ibadan (B.Sc. Hons, 1990), his extensive career includes pivotal command roles such as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations for Zones 8 and 17; Area Commander in Enugu, Abia, and Anambra States; and Commissioner of Police for Community Policing at Force Headquarters. His global outlook is reinforced by international peacekeeping missions with the United Nations in Kosovo (2000–2002) and Darfur, Sudan (2013–2016).

Also part of the process leading to the approval and posting were Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC, Rtd), Commissioner I, and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Esq., Secretary to the Commission.
