The Delta State Police Command, through its spokesman, SP Edafe Bright, said it has arrested six suspects in separate operations targeting armed robbery, attempted murder and stealing across the State.

He said last Sunday, operatives of Orerokpe Division, acting on credible intelligence received from the Civilian Anti-Cult Group, Osubi, regarding suspected armed robbers operating in a tricycle along Osubi Road, mobilised in collaboration with civilian anti-cult operatives and local vigilantes to intercept the suspects. The coordinated operation led to the arrest of Musa Haruna ‘m’, aged 22 years, and Mubarack Abdulahi ‘m’, aged 20 years, who were intercepted in a tricycle with registration number BDG 429 QN. A search of the tricycle led to the recovery of one locally made cut-to-size double-barrelled shotgun, seven live cartridges and one jackknife. Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects are allegedly members of a criminal syndicate involved in robbing and abducting unsuspecting passengers and compelling them to transfer money from their bank accounts. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other suspected members of the syndicate.

Also, the following day, a distress call concerning an attempted armed robbery at Alifekede Village, operatives of Agbor Division swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested one Paul Francis ‘m’, aged 25 years. The suspect allegedly attempted to rob a woman and stabbed her on the forehead, inflicting serious injuries before he was apprehended. One locally made cut-to-size gun and one kitchen knife were recovered from the suspect. The victim was taken to a medical facility, where she is responding to treatment. The suspect is in police custody, while investigation is ongoing.

Still on the same day, operatives of Otu-Jeremi Division, acting on credible intelligence in connection with a case of stealing reported on 10th October 2026 at Okwagbe Waterside Community, arrested one Bruno Jonathan ‘m’. The complaint involved the stealing of a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine, an Infinix mobile phone and the sum of ₦2 million from the residence of a female victim. A search of the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of one locally made cut-to-size gun and one live cartridge. Further investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspects, Merit Solomon ‘f’ and Edna Iboyi ‘f’, in connection with the incident. The suspects are in police custody, while investigation continues to establish their respective levels of involvement.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, commends the operatives for their prompt response and effective collaboration with community security stakeholders. He reiterates the Command’s determination to dismantle criminal networks, recover illegally possessed firearms and ensure that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice. The CP assures residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and urges members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
