2026 Customer Service Week: Delta Police Command Appreciate Residents For Support In Crime Fighting, Present Souvenirs To Deltans

In commemoration of the 2026 Customer Service Week, themed “Going the Extra Mile,” the Delta State Police Command, on Wednesday, 7th October 2026, embarked on a statewide community outreach to appreciate Deltans for their unwavering support and cooperation in the fight against crime and criminality. The initiative underscores the Command’s commitment to strengthening police-community relations and promoting a culture of responsive, people-oriented policing.

The exercise, according to SP Edafe Bright, the Command spokesman, which was carried out simultaneously across the 25 Local Government Areas of the State, witnessed direct engagement with motorists, traders, parents, youths, and other members of the public. Souvenirs, books and other gift items were presented to residents, including primary and secondary school students, in recognition of their continued partnership with the Police. The initiative also provided an avenue to reinforce the importance of public cooperation, mutual trust and information sharing in effective crime prevention.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, described the outreach as part of the Command’s non-kinetic approach to crime fighting, emphasising that effective policing is not achieved through enforcement alone but also through deliberate efforts to build trust, strengthen relationships and encourage community participation in security matters. He noted that the successes recorded in combating crime across the State are attributable, in part, to the invaluable cooperation and support of law-abiding Deltans.

The CP further assured residents that the initiative would be sustained beyond the Customer Service Week as part of broader efforts to bridge the gap between the Police and the public. He reiterated that the Police exist to serve and protect the people, and that public confidence remains fundamental to effective policing. While appreciating Deltans for their continued support, he urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities and sustain their partnership with the Command in its determination to make Delta State safer for all.
