A retired police commissioner and his family have been plunged into profound sorrow following the shocking and violent death of their son a lieutenant in the Nigerian Army.
The deceased, Lt. Abdulahi Ismaila Chafe from Chafe town in Zamfara state was the son of Abdulahi Ibrahim Chafe, retired from the force as CP 8 years ago.
The Army officer, a source disclosed was on duty in Sokoto state with his colleagues when unknown gun men ambushed them. While his colleagues sustained injuries, he wasn’t lucky as he died instantly. The source said the officer was killed few days to his proposed wedding in June this year.
When contacted, an uncle of the deceased, a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG, Mamman Ibrahim Chafe, confirmed the gruesome killing of his nephew. “It’s sad and unfortunate”, said retired DIG Chafe .
Meanwhile, military officials are reportedly conducting an extensive search for the unidentified attackers who ambushed the troops, an incident that resulted in the young officer’s death.
