The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, alongside members of the Command’s Management Team, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.O Oborevwori, at Government House, Asaba. The CP stated that the visit was necessary to formally introduce himself and his Management Team to the Governor and reaffirm the Command’s commitment to the security of lives and property across the State.
According to the police image maker in the state, SP Edafe Bright, the Commissioner of Police assured the Governor that professionalism and discipline would remain the watchwords of his administration and would be reflected across all ranks of the Command. He pledged to rejig the security architecture of the state through intelligence-led, technology-driven and community-centred policing, with a determination to further strengthen peace and security across Delta State. The CP also acknowledged the Governor’s support for security and conveyed the regards of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM.
The Executive Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori congratulated the Commissioner of Police on his posting to Delta State, describing it as timely. He stressed that peace and security remain fundamental to economic stability, physical development and sustainable progress, and charged the Command to intensify efforts against all forms of crime while embracing intelligence, technology, community partnership, professionalism and respect for the rights of citizens.
The Governor further stressed that no individual is above the law, directing that anyone involved in crime or sponsoring violence, irrespective of status or political affiliation, should be dealt with in accordance with the law. He wished the Commissioner of Police a successful tenure and assured him of the State Government’s cooperation, while the CP reaffirmed the command’s resolve to work diligently towards a safer and more secure Delta State.
