Majority members of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) have disassociated themselves from an online writer, faking a bad report against the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), in charge of Zone 2, Moshood Olohundare Jimoh.
It will be recalled that the purported online writer indicated in his report that ‘Lagos journalists’ echoes no, no when the IGP who inspected CRAN Secretariat at Oduduwa asked the journalists on how AIG is performing.
Reacting to the malicious report, some CRAN members in attendance condemned and denied such incident, claiming that the IGP only asked whether the CP Lagos is performing well or not and “We all said Yes, Yes, Yes”.
According to them, “There was no time the IGP asked about AIG Jimoh and CP Ojajuni of Ogun State Command performance. The fake reporter only wrote calculated lies and tried to rope in an innocent person with no basis”.
The writer was severely condemned for also accusing some members of CRAN of collecting gifts and personal assistance from the AIG, “which are blunt lies”.
The members are now calling on the CRAN authority to look into the matter and bring the writer to book, so as to serve as deterrent to others like him who always blackmail people for their selfish end.
“Even, if there’s need to report the matter to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) both in Lagos Chapter and the National headquarters. This is one of the bad eggs in journalism who are denting the name and image of the noble profession because of selfish gain, not minding the outcome”, they added.
It was also noted that the exemplary performance recorded in Lagos Command when he was CP is what the new head of the command are emulating to perform well when he took over, while his excellent directives to both CP Lagos and counterpart in Ogun State respectfully are assisting in combating criminal activities in their domains.
All efforts to get the satanic writer for his reaction proved abortive as his phone numbers are switched off.
