The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has revealed fresh details surrounding the death of a man whose body was discovered under the Katampe Bridge in Abuja on August 26, 2026.
The command, in a statement shared on its official Facebook page on Saturday, said preliminary investigations traced the deceased’s final known movements to a guest house in Gwarimpa, where he had reportedly lodged with a married woman identified as Mrs Rukayat M. of Garki Area 2.
According to the police, investigations indicated that the woman was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the deceased and had saved his phone number as “Safiyat.”
The command said the woman allegedly discovered that the man was no longer breathing and had died but, rather than report the matter to the police, allegedly took his mobile phone and left the guest house.

The deceased’s body was subsequently discovered in the room by the guest house management, according to the police.
The command further alleged that two members of staff of the guest house were involved in removing the body from the room and dumping it under the Katampe Bridge.
The police, however, said the exact cause and circumstances of the man’s death had yet to be established, stressing that the investigation was ongoing.
The development comes as the command intensifies efforts to determine what happened to the deceased before his body was moved from the Gwarimpa guest house to the Katampe area.
The FCT Police Command assured members of the public that investigations would continue and that anyone found culpable would be made to face the law.
